Viscoelastic Coagulation Testing: Use and Current Limitations in Perioperative Decision-making
نویسندگان
چکیده
Viscoelastic coagulation testing is increasingly used for clinical decision-making targeted treatment of coagulopathy. Nevertheless, additional assays and studies are needed to define its role in coagulopathy management.

Coagulation monitoring: current techniques and clinical use of viscoelastic point-of-care coagulation devices.
Perioperative monitoring of blood coagulation is critical to better understand causes of hemorrhage, to guide hemostatic therapies, and to predict the risk of bleeding during the consecutive anesthetic or surgical procedures. Point-of-care (POC) coagulation monitoring devices assessing the viscoelastic properties of whole blood, i.e., thrombelastography, rotation thrombelastometry, and Sonoclot...
متن کاملThe Limitations of Current Decision-Making Techniques in the Procurement of COTS Software Components
The fundamentals of good decision-making are, first, a clear understanding of the decision itself and second the availability of properly focused information to support the decision. Decision-making techniques help with both these problems. However, the techniques should be thought of as aids to decision-making and not the substitutes for it. Numerous decision-making techniques have been propos...
متن کاملInformation Theory and Observational Limitations in Decision Making
We introduce a general framework for formalizing and analyzing the problem faced by a Decision Maker (DM) working under information-theoretic constraints on their observational ability. The random utility model and the “hedonic utility” model of Netzer and Robson (NR) are special cases of this framework. We begin by applying information theory to our framework to derive general results concerni...
